The Kid In Me
Though it's barely December,
I can already see
snow on the sidewalk,
lights on the tree.
Something 'bout Christmas
leads me to believe
a child is still living in me.
Well I still remember
what it used to be like
dreaming of reindeer
on a Christmas eve night.
One eye half open
the other asleep,
it's funny what I chose to believe.
It happens each time
December draws near,
a child is reborn
this time of year when I
Start wrapping the presents
and hanging the lights,
start making a list
and checking it twice.
Start hanging the holly
and the mistletoe,
and off I go back
to what I used to be.
It's funny how Christmas
brings out the kid in me.
Sneaking into the kitchen
past the fireplace light,
eating holiday cookies
in the middle of the night.
I stare out the window
just to see all the lights,
seems the stars are shining brighter tonight.
When the family's together
swapping stories of old,
don't they seem to get better
the more they are told
And like all the others
I fight to resist
Aunt Helen's yearly holiday kiss!
It happens each time
December draws near,
a child is reborn
this time of year when I
Start wrapping the presents
and hanging the lights,
start making a list
and checking it twice.
Start hanging the holly
and the mistletoe,
and off I go back
to what I used to be.
It's funny how Christmas
brings out the kid in me.
No matter how old you are,
no matter how long it's been,
you're never too far away
from the child that lives within.
Start wrapping the presents
and hanging the lights
Start making a list
And checking it twice
Start hanging the holly
And mistletoe
and off I go back
to what I used to be.
It's funny how Christmas
brings out the kid in me.
It’s funny how Christmas
Brings out the kid in me.
